From PDF to editable CAD

This converter renders the selected PDF page, then traces the visible linework into editable polylines. It works with both scanned PDFs and exported drawings. Recognized labels become CAD text on a separate layer.

The result is an approximate reconstruction, not the original CAD file: layers, blocks, dimensions, hatches and curves are not restored as their original objects. Clear black line drawings work best. Dense sheets and tiny text may lose detail at the 2048-pixel tracing resolution. Check geometry and calibrate a known dimension before technical use.

Can I convert a scanned PDF?

Yes. Scanned and vector PDFs both pass through a rendered image before tracing. A crisp plan with a white background gives a better result than a photograph or a dense shaded sheet.

Can I choose a page from a multi-page PDF?

Yes. Upload the document, choose a page and check its preview. Each conversion produces one CAD file; choose another page to convert the next sheet.

Does the output preserve accurate dimensions?

The page is placed in millimetres at paper size, multiplied by the scale you enter. Tracing is approximate. Verify and calibrate a known dimension; do not assume a printed scale applies to every view on the sheet.

What is editable in the result?

Traced lines are polylines on A-SKETCH. Labels recognized by OCR are text on A-TEXT. Original PDF or CAD layer structure, parametric dimensions and blocks are not recovered.

Can I convert a password-protected PDF?

Open it with your own password and export an unlocked copy first. This converter does not accept passwords or bypass PDF protection.

Should I choose DWG or DXF?

Choose DWG for a native 2018-format drawing. Choose DXF for an R2000 exchange file used by many CAD and fabrication applications. Review and clean up traced geometry before machining.
