About this block

The whole drawing is five polylines. Four of them live in a block: a 1.00 by 2.15 m mattress, a 0.66 by 0.44 m pillow at the head, a short line marking the sheet edge and a triangle for the turned-back corner. The fifth sits loose in model space and is the nightstand, 0.50 by 0.40 m, offset to the right of the head. The block is placed at 0.01 scale, so the polylines are drawn in centimetres and the plan reads in metres.

Those are true single-bed dimensions, which makes this the block for student housing, dormitories, staff accommodation and hotel twin rooms at 1:50 and 1:100. At five entities it is the lightest bed in the library, so a floor plate with sixty rooms costs you three hundred objects rather than tens of thousands. The turned-back corner is the only decoration and it still reads at 1:200.

Move the nightstand into the block before you copy the pair around a plan, otherwise you will place sixty beds and forget sixty nightstands. Mirror the block for the second bed in a twin room and the nightstand ends up between them. Layers TOPRAK and ahsap are Turkish for earth and wood, left over from the source drawing; put the bed on your own furniture layer and the old layers purge cleanly.

Questions

What size is the bed?

The mattress is 1.00 by 2.15 m with a 0.66 by 0.44 m pillow, and the separate nightstand is 0.50 by 0.40 m.

Why is the nightstand not in the block?

It was drawn straight into model space. Select both, make one block of them, and the pair copies together from then on.
