25 Truck Chassis Side Elevations

Twenty-five side elevations of cab-and-chassis trucks are set out in three columns: two-axle rigids, three-axle rigids with a lifting tag axle, and tractor units with a fifth wheel. Each truck is its own block definition drawn at full size in millimetres, the shortest measuring 6,034 by 2,431 mm and the longest about 8,700 by 2,950, and the sheet as a whole covers 31.1 by 46.4 m. Twenty-eight layers keep the parts apart, among them 01_CAB, 02_FRAME, 06_FRONT_WHEELS, 07_REAR_WHEELS, 17_Fueltanks and 19_Vertical_exhaust.

The detail runs deeper than that layer list suggests. One tractor unit is assembled from 37 nested inserts, so its rims, mudguard, fender, bumper, fuel tanks, brake cylinders and exhaust stack are each a reusable block in their own right. Loading bays, workshop plans and body-builder drawings are the obvious use: insert at scale 1 in a millimetre file or 0.001 in a metre one. Freeze 09_DIMENSIONS to lose the dimension strings, and copy the one chassis you need instead of the whole six-megabyte sheet.

Because every chassis is measured from the same baseline, the sheet also works as a comparison: park a two-axle rigid, a three-axle rigid and a tractor unit against the same loading dock and the differences in wheelbase, rear overhang and cab height show up at once. That is the quickest way to settle whether a service yard can take the vehicle a client keeps asking for, long before anyone draws a swept path.
