About this block
Filed with the trucks, but what is drawn is an articulated wheel loader. The profile shows the cab with its glazing and roof guard, the engine hood behind it, an exhaust and an air cleaner standing up in front of the screen, the articulation joint at the middle of the frame, the lift arms with their tilt ram, and the bucket resting at ground level. Both tyres are drawn with individual tread blocks. The block holds 407 lines, 209 arcs and 34 circles, 650 entities in all, placed at two-thousandths scale on a layer named A-Flor-Strs.
Earthworks plans, site phasing drawings and method statements use a loader to show where a machine can stand, turn and reach, usually at 1:100 or 1:200. The geometry is drawn to proportion rather than to size, 2.29 units long for every one unit high, so scale it until the machine reads about 7.5 m over the bucket and 3.3 m to the top of the cab. Mirror it for a machine loading the other way, and keep it on a plant layer that can be switched off for the architectural issue.
