About this block
A child stands with both arms stretched out sideways, one a little higher than the other, drawn as a single polyline built from straight segments rather than curves, which gives the figure its angular look. It is 0.89 m tall and 0.74 m across the outstretched hands, so beside the 1.75 m adult from the same Spanish set it reads as a three or four year old. The layer is again OP-AMBI-GENTE.
Children belong in the elevations and sections of nurseries, schools, clinics, housing and playgrounds, and they answer questions an adult figure cannot: whether a handrail is at the right height, how much of a window a child can see out of, how high a washbasin or a counter sits against a small body. Drawn at 1:50 and 1:20 the outstretched arms also show a child's reach.
Do not make children by scaling an adult down. A young child has a much larger head in proportion to the body, so a shrunken adult looks wrong the moment it stands next to one. Use this outline instead, turn it into a block with the base point between the feet, and keep it on the same entourage layer as the grown-up figures.
